The Indianapolis Canal Walk stretches for three miles from 11th Street to the White River, marking the location of the Central Canal, partially constructed in 1839 as a transportation channel. Though the Canal was never completed, the section that was built is now used by Indianapolis locals daily for bike riding, jogging and boating. Along the Canal Walk, various facilities rent out single and double pedal boats and paddle boats for patrons' use. Crossing the Canal by boat is a nice way in which to see downtown Indianapolis from a different perspective.
