In 1943, Ike Sewell created the first deep dish pizza America had ever seen. In order to share his creation with locals and tourists alike, Sewell created Pizzeria Uno on East Ohio Street. Uno's pioneered Chicago style deep dish pizza, paving the way for the popular thick crust trend. Uno's reinforces Sewell's respectable name with friendly service, huge portions, and rich and tasty pizzas. A specialty of the pizzeria is the "Numero Uno" containing enough fresh sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and green peppers to keep you full for hours and satisfied enough to return again and again.
