The Beehive House is the older of the two Utah residences inhabited by Brigham Young when he was both president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Governor of the Utah territory. Built in 1854, the home has been restored to look as if it were inhabited by the Young family back in the nineteenth century. Free guided tours of the residence are offered daily, and give visitors a sense of what life may have been like within The Beehive House. The now National Historic Landmark gets its name from the Mormon pioneer symbol of the beehive, signifying industry and cooperative labor.
