Founded in 1911, the Austin Symphony Orchestra is Austin's oldest performing arts group, quite a title to hold in a city known around the world for its music prominence. The Long Center for the Performing Arts houses the Austin Symphony Orchestra, whose season, in addition to classical concerts, comprises pops concerts, a holiday concert and a Halloween Children's Concert to name a few, and the Orchestra plays host to various free concerts throughout the year fit for the whole family.
