Historic 6th Street in downtown Austin plays host to the biannual Old Pecan Street Festival, occurring the first weekend of May and the last weekend of September. The name of the Festival is an homage to 6th Street's original name: Pecan Street. The Festival lasts for two days and showcases handmade arts and crafts from local and national artisans. From woodworking to metal craft to glassworks, there is no limit to the artistic mediums exhibited at the Festival. In addition to the art booths, the Old Pecan Street Festival features food vendors selling festival favorites as well as kid friendly activities like face painting and a petting zoo.
