For a restaurant that's been around long enough to qualify for Social Security, the Paramount in Beacon Hill sure doesn't show its age. The room is simple and stylish, decorated with snappy paint and black-and-white photography, and the menu is a very current collection of American favorites. Where else could you find something as classic as sirloin tips with caramelized onions and red Bliss mashed potatoes that tastes this good—for $13.95? Not to mention an honestly priced wine list and tempting, freshly made dessert specials. Beacon Hillers flock here on the weekends, but tables are worth the wait, especially for breakfast: eggs, omelets, pancakes, and waffles, plus all the coffee you can drink.
