Lollapalooza is one of the most sensational music festivals in the country. Created in 1991 by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza has grown over its lifetime to feature an extraordinarily diverse range of bands and artists, representing musical genres of alternative rock, hip hop, heavy metal, punk and indie. In addition to music, the festival is also a platform for comedy and dance performances and craft booths. The word "lollapalooza" refers to something that is especially impressive, and this lively and exciting music festival has certainly lived up to its name. Lollapalooza got its start as a traveling festival anchored primarily by alternative music, as pioneered by Nirvana. Over the years, its fame and success have allowed Lollapalooza to expand its line-up to include performers ranging from Beastie Boys to Macklemore. It is now a three day event based in Chicago with record-breaking attendance.
